History: Even at an early age, Gariff and his brother, Kabewse knew they wanted to be knights. Day in and day out, they would sit perched on their patio railing watching the knights train.
There are many versions of the origin of both Kabewse and Gariff. As Knights, they have told various versions of their origin…
This is probably one of the most commonly told tales that is supposedly their origin…
However, being born of royalty, both of them knew their parents would never let them join the knighthood, because of the dangers involved. Nor would the knighthood ever take them in, knowing that their king would have their heads if any harm came to his sons.
Kabewse and Gariff found a way around that. Putting on helms, they snuck out of their house one day and applied for the Knighthood. When the Knights asked them to remove their helms, they claimed that they could not, for they were horribly scarred during a battle long ago.
The Knights respected that the two had been so grievously wounded apparently, that they allowed both to join.
None realized when their father had put out a notice that his two sons had gone missing, that it just might be the two newest recruits to the Knighthood.
Realizing that their father would eventually catch them, they asked to be reassigned. Their general assigned them to the City of Neverending. On the way there, the two knights heard the cries of a woman.
This had been their moment. This is what they had lived for. Racing up the hillside they found a band of barbaric trolls tormenting a human woman. With their deftness and skill, the two knights rescued the woman.
They celebrated their victory at the Red Dragon Tavern in the City of Neverending, unbeknownst to either of them that they had been the final piece to pushing Peter and Grayson to get off their bar stools and head out into the world.
