Neverending Nights
EPISODE 01: “HEROES?!”

Writer’s Note: This is a tough episode to watch – even for me. This was our first venture into Machinima. To say there was a lot of experimenting happen would be a serious understatement. The first episode was one huge experiment to see if we could even get this to work how we wanted. It’s very flat. And thankfully everything about the series, from the video quality, the animation, sound quality, voice acting and writing all drastically improve as the series continued to progress.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 02: “20K?”

Writer’s Note: Still in the learning process of Machinima and filming within a game environment you can see in this video we switched our filming style from the original episode. Originally we had thought of going widescreen to give it a cinema look – but decided the full screen was much cleaner. This is where the would-be heroes first really get an idea with what they should do for a quest…

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 03: “Come On Baby, Light My Fire…”

Writer’s Note: This episode may seem like it’s a filler episode, but it really does begin to define what these would-be heroes, Peter and Grayson are really like. Everything from purchasing questionable maps from close friends, to thinking that they could easily handle taking down a dragon – the most epic thing any hero can do! For Peter and Grayson they think it’s an easy short cut to fame and fortune – and being able to open up their own bar!

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 04: “A Walk In The Woods…”

Writer’s Note: Another character defining moment – especially for Peter the Ranger. In this episode, with the entire fiasco with the campfire – you learn that Peter the Ranger isn’t exactly the best of the rangers. The reference to the “one eyed elf” drawing is a personal jab at myself. There’s one thing I can draw. An elf. With one eye. And I put – as we had Grayson say “a wisp of hair” – over the eye because I can never draw parallel eyes without making the elf look like some kind of swamp creature.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 05: “Ye Salty Dog!”

Writer’s Note: This is the first episode we introduced one of our friends and gave them a line. Poppy the Salt Vendor. Like most of the friends we introduce, each character has a quirk – usually based off the person playing them. Poppy has an infatuation for salt. I kid you not. She puts salt on top of her salt. So naturally when we introduced her we wanted to make reference to her obsession with Salt. The whole Salt Vendor joke actually did quite well in the series, which led her to having multiple appearances in later episodes.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 06: “He’s A Magic Man!”

Writer’s Note: Another episode where we have a friend of ours lend a voice. Alan the Astounding is voiced by Chad Yantos. The whole joke with Alan being a drunk wizard is, once again, a reference to a real event. During a (booze) cruise one year on a ship – Alan and Tawmis got into a drinking competition and drank… a lot. Well, while leaving Chad was walking – and suddenly fell forward – no hands out or anything – he just passed out in mid-stride. It was pretty incredible. We had to drag him (he was like dead weight) back to his room.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 07: “Things That Make You Go… Boom?”

Writer’s Note: This episode was pretty fun. We wanted to make use of the salt the character purchased, and so we used an gelatinous cube to be a “ice cube monster.” Using the salt from Poppy the Salt Vendor to … Well you will see. But the multiple shots of that result is our little jab at Anime and how they show the same explosion from like fifteen different shots.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 08: “On Borrowed Gold…”

Writer’s Note: This one introduces Tawmis’ wife, Amiee. This is the first time we actually worked close with the person lending a voice. Amiee, who is what we call “A Professional Shopper” – lent all kinds of references (like the Members Only Jacket) to the episode. Unfortunately we experienced some audio problems during this episode which showed up in the final product. A fun episode otherwise. One that sets up something in Season 3…

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 09: “It’s Not The Size (That Matters)…”

Writer’s Note: This episode is unique in that the vendor shown in this episode was original voiced by another voice actor, who later was removed from the project. A new voice actor, Sean, replaced the actor and redid the entire episode with us. There’s a few out there who are long time fans of Neverending Nights, who have the original release of the episode featuring the voice actor that was terminated from the project. Aside from that interesting fact, this episode is crucial to the series as this is the episode that Grayson gets the fiery sword – which we learn later – is much more than just a fiery magic sword.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 10: “Racial Benefits”

Writer’s Note: This episode is the one where Pawl the Dorf, first mentioned selling the map to Peter is finally seen. Pawl the Dorf becomes a constant member of the series from this point forward. This is the first episode that shows a goblin (Dink the Goblin). The next episode features the goblins who would go on to become one of the most popular things about Neverending Nights.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 11: “Deep, Dark Revenge (This Is How We Roll)”

Writer’s Note: The title of the episode is a reference to the video game DDR. Also this is the first episode that features the main three goblins (Albert, Bob and Charlie) who would go on to become extremely popular in the series. Each of them is a representative of Grayson, Pawl and Peter respectively. Also, like the “respective doubles” they begin the naming convention (A, B, C…)

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 12: “Where There Is Smoke…”

Writer’s Note: This episode makes a small nod to the earlier episode that features the campfire. Our would be heroes, Peter and Grayson make a campfire in the cave and realize without a lot of ventilation – things can sometimes go a little wrong. People were also clamoring for more goblin appearances, so we knew that the goblins would be appearing again later in the series.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 13: “In And Out, A Hero’s Tale”

Writer’s Note: In this episode, we make a reference to Dungeons & Dragons; and the Ranger’s ability to “Speak With Animals.” However, Peter tries to speak to fish (which of course, don’t exactly have the biggest of brains – which may be just what Peter needs). We also begin to see that there’s more to the magic sword that Grayson purchased… and its secret begins to unfold.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 14: “Here Comes The Sand Again…”

Writer’s Note: The heroes are stuck out in the desert and wandering around aimlessly. In the background from time to time, there’s a large face statue and two hands sticking out of the sand – this is a reference to a pose that Adam often struck that was deemed “BGA.” This episode got a few laughs with the voice in Grayson’s head happening – which is the sword – but neither of them realizes it.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 15: “Reach Out With Your Feelings…”

Writer’s Note: In this episode Grayson finally convinces Peter to use one of his Ranger’esque powers to Summon Animal Companion so that they can eat it before they perish in the desert. The end result of the multiple summonings leads to some chaos. The animals that are summoned are seen again in Season 2. This also features a farmer coming and taking his “prize pig.” The pig is a reference to user on the Bioware forums who had “pig” in their name.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 16: “Dessert City?”

Writer’s Note: This episode features Mark Baldus and John Kroeger, two folks that worked with Tawmis and Adam at the “9 to 5″ job. It’s a small set up that most people didn’t seem to catch – but everyone who is a guard in the city has a magical weapon (seen immediately by the characters played by Mark and John). The reason being is the city is guarded by a (silver) dragon that our heroes will find out later. The dragon equips the guards with magical weapons so that the guards can effectively protect the dragon.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 17: “Heroes Bar & Keep And…?”

Writer’s Note: This episode features Bethany & Mario Garcia. Bethany did the sultry voice of Madame Rainbow, while Mario did the voice of the Bartender. Mario was also later selected to do the voice of Daniel the Destructive. Daniel the Destructive was created when the voice actor who portrayed Alan the Astounding could not commit to future recordings. Daniel’s role was originally written to be Alan the Astounding, so there was some minor rewriting to make Daniel a unique character, and not a clone of Alan the Astounding, with just a different name. This episode introduces Andrea the Assassin, voiced by Christi Molina (originally) and the demise of an existing character…

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 18: “Pepper Flavored?”

Writer’s Note: Poppy the Salt Vendor appears as a main person in this episode. This episode also introduces an assortment of different kinds of salt – including “pepper flavored salt” – which, as a joke did unexpectedly well. As a result, we wanted to do more with the pepper flavored salt joke and make it a part of the series. The effects of pepper flavored salt and magic are later explained in a later episode. Amiee the Armorer can be seen in this episode; which comes into play in Season 3. As well as the two Knights who originally “inspired” Peter and Grayson can be seen (as they can in previous episodes as well). All of this ties in with Season 3.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 19: “A Little Magic!”

Writer’s Note: This episode introduces Mario Garcia as Daniel the Destructive. As noted previously, the role of Daniel the Destructive was supposed to actually be Alan the Astounding, however Chad Yantos was unable to commit to future recordings at the time – so with some rewrites, we created Daniel the Destructive and developed a new personality for the character. Andrea the Assassin, originally voiced by Christi Molina, also makes her debut. Andrea the Assassin is the “serious” character in a world gone mad. So she rarely has “funny” lines; the humor with her comes from her being so series while everything else around her is so chaotic.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 20: “Variety Is The Spice Of Life… And Death.”

Writer’s Note: Every once in awhile, a few episodes here and there, we threw something at the end – just past the credits. Just to reward folks who sat and watched the credits – they’d get a little extra. Obviously this was something that was very popular for movies to do. This episode featured an ending after the credits that was actually pretty crucial to the series – or at least to the development of Pawl the Dorf’s character. Originally released, some people missed this ending and wondered why Pawl the Dorf was in he state he was in later…

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 21: “Accumulation”

Writer’s Note: This is the episode where Peter and Grayson go after the Silver Dragon. However, this episode also features a large majority of folks who made previous appearances in the series. We had tried to get everyone who did a voice previously to return and have at least one or two lines in this episode that was going to be the accumulation of the entire first season! Unfortunately some were unable to – so there was some last minute edits to this episode when we pulled it all together.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 22: “This Is ‘Dragon’ On Too Long…”

Writer’s Note: Peter and Grayson make a horrifying discovery when they learn that the Dragon of Ator is not an evil dragon… So their hopes of the quest ending quickly are quickly forgotten. The Dragon of Ator, however, does tell Peter and Grayson that if they’re really looking to be heroes, that perhaps rescuing some maiden in distress would work out better for them (and perhaps not be so insanely difficult as killing a dragon). The Dragon, however, seems to have a particularly person in mind that needs to be rescued.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 23: “Oh How I Treasure… Treasure!”

Writer’s Note: In this episode Peter and Grayson stare at their dream – a mound of gold, when the Dragon of Ator decides to assist them. Peter also picks up something from the cave that “doesn’t fit” the Dragon which has yet to play itself out in Season 2… perhaps in Season 3 we just might see what Peter picked up…

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 24: “The Watchful Eye”

Writer’s Note: The Dragon of Ator, voice by Jeremy Rochester, continues to assist Peter and Grayson by giving them a map – which Grayson quickly takes from Peter. Grayson asks about a few… unusual markings and notes on the map that the dragon tells them to avoid… The Dragon also reveals that there’s more to him than it would appear…

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 25: “The New Recruits”

Writer’s Note: The scene opens with a large hole on the ice floor, which is a reference to when Peter and Grayson blew up the Ice Cube Monster in Season 1. This also marks the return of Andrea the Assassin and Daniel the Destructive in Season 2. Andrea the Assassin is now voiced by Amanda Host (who would later marry Adam Freese!), replacing the previous voice actor, Christi Molina.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 26: “Reunited And It Feels So Good”

Writer’s Note: Peter and Grayson have another campfire within the cave (apparently not learning their previous lesson). Grayson goes to sleep, leaving the care of the fire to Peter… which leads to… Well, this episode shows what happens! This episode also brings back Pawl the Dorf and reunites them with Peter and Grayson with his new… “condition.”

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 27: “Even Ghosts Have Racial Benefits?”

Writer’s Note: This episode brings Andrea the Assassin and Daniel the Destructive to Ator, showing they’re hot on the trail of Peter and Grayson. This episode also brings back Poppy the Salt Vendor, with Amiee the Armorer seen behind her.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 28: “The Light At The End Of The Tunnel”

Writer’s Note: This episode explains why Pawl the Dorf is stuck in his current “condition” and why he’s not able to pass onto the “Otherside.” The credits also feature some additional dialogue in the beginning making cult classic references to a number of ghost related movies.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 29: “The Plan.”

Writer’s Note: This episode opens up with yet another Star Wars reference with the bar. The goblins (along with the two new additions, Dink voiced by Mario Garcia representing Daniel the Destructive, and Ellen who represents Andrea the Assassin) have a big part. The initial dialogue with between the Bartender and Andrea is pretty comical; and her reaction to what the Bartender thinks of Grayson’s virginity sparks an unusual interest in Andrea; which sets up something that will be discovered at the end of the Season 2.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 30: “Good Elf… Bad Elf?”

Writer’s Note: This episode is pretty epic. Peter and Grayson accidentally trigger a war between two underground races when they clash into one another. The filming of the episode was very difficult as all of the action was randomly set to attack – and from time to time caused a bit of lag during the filming. But the end result turned out pretty good. Also the answer to Pawl’s condition may finally be solved…

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 31: “Side Effects May Vary”

Writer’s Note: This episode has a bunch of fun references. This episode introduces Hannah playing the part of Poppy the Salt Vendor’s daughter and making a wish in a wishing well; and Peter and Grayson return to the Wishing Well joke once again. Pawl the Dorf is warned that the ‘reincarnation’ may have some ’side effects’ setting up an ongoing joke with Pawl’s fate throughout Season 2.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 32: “Employment Opportunities”

Writer’s Note: Peter and Grayson decide that in order to get word around about their (false) heroics – they decide that they will hire a fake Nemesis to spread the word about their great deeds. They hire someone by the name of Evil Foo who is set to “stretch the truth” – Peter however misunderstands her name… which costs them 300 gold. This episode also introduces Myoki Spencer as Evil Foo.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 33: “There Be Pirates!”

Writer’s Note: This episode was perhaps the “longest in the making.” Not that it took a long time to make the video – but since both Adam and Tawmis are fans of Pirates – there was no doubt that pirates would eventually be featured in the Neverending Nights series. This episode shows a unique way of bringing in pirates into the series! This episode also features a former co-worker, Jamie King. Also, a side note the “Scarasea Oceans” in which the episode takes place is named after “Scara” who is better known as Sara, who originally (and accidentally) came up with the “That Kicks Rocks!” statement.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 34: “Barking Up The Wrong Tree”

Writer’s Note: This episode puts Pawl the Dorf in a unique form; for the first time, not allowing Pawl to speak as himself in the new form. The voice of Pawl’s new form is voiced (or barked) by Tawmis’ dog, Odin. This was a fun episode in that Peter uses his “Speak with Animals” skill – what Peter is hearing is very different than what Pawl the Dorf is “barking.” Even Grayson notices that much…

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 35: “This Is Bull$#!+”

Writer’s Note: This episode features Pawl in a new form – yet again! And Peter and Grayson cracked a few jokes about Pawl’s latest form – once they finally discover that it’s actually Pawl the Dorf and not a Minotaur going after them! Also fun to note that the Knights can be seen in the background… again.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 36: “Mind Over Matter (Now That You Don’t Have A Mind, It Doesn’t Matter)”

Writer’s Note: Peter, Grayson and Pawl leave the town. And when they do – the Silver Dragon, in its human form is seen following them. Andrea the Assassin gets closer to finding Peter and Grayson. The three encounter Mind Flayers (Illithid) – and make a joke about filming underground. Adam and Tawmis have often made it known that they dislike filming underground for the series, because of ceiling issues as well as lack of scenery. This episode is one of the first ones where characters were given subtitles as an alternate version, because of the Mind Flayers. Note: This episode may require subtitles for the creatures – you can download that version here.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 37: “Crime Does Not Pay”

Writer’s Note: In this episode Andrea the Assassin encounters Evil Foo. After a brief exchange, Evil Foo attacks the goblins – slaying Ellen and Dink – however, Andrea strikes Evil Foo down once she gets the information she needs from Evil Foo. It’s interesting to note that the goblins find the 300 gold that Peter paid Evil Foo on her body… this will come up again in Season 3…

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 38: “Mandatory Flashbacks”

Writer’s Note: Daniel confesses to Andrea that he knows Mother Draco, and goes on to explain that he was responsible for the explosion of Gnome Mountain. In the flashback, a Crimson Draco Legion member tells Daniel the Delightful (before earning his Destructive name) that the man with the fiery sword is not who he claims to be. However, the shadowy figure is wise to the Crimson Draco and manages to escape. This is the first time the Shadowy Figure who owns the fiery sword before Grayson is seen. The character is voiced by Travis Richards, who is also responsible for the music of Neverending Nights. Andrea also confesses part of her origin as well – revealing the one she calls “Mother” is not truly her mother.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 39: “Confessions Of A Blade”

Writer’s Note: The title of this episode “Confessions of a Blade” is based on the title of a story written by Paul Molina, based on Soul Calibur – starring Ivy and Raphael. This is also the first time, that Grayson actually begins having past visions – the shadowy figure is seen fighting orcs in an epic battle. The sword, once Grayson awakens, explains that Grayson’s destined for the blade.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 40: “Something’s Not Quite Right”

Writer’s Note: Through sheer luck and stupidity, Peter and Grayson continue to avoid Andrea, remaining one step ahead. When Andrea questions gnolls about a Half-Elf, Human and Minotaur, the Gnolls explain that those three did not come through – which makes Andrea thinks the Minotaur is going to spring a trap on them eventually! Grayson begins telling Peter about “strange dreams” to which Peter explains puberty – and explains that Grayson better not have feelings for him. (Which comes into play again in Season 3)…

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 41: “Something Wicked This Way Comes”

Writer’s Note: The episode begins with a dream sequence with the Shadowy Figure confronting the one that Andrea the Assassin serves and called “Mother.” Pawl ends up dying; again. The Resurrection Priest and Pawl exchange dialogue about putting points into spot check, and that the previous Rogue hadn’t put any. This is a reference to a “power gamer” we used to game with. Andrea also manages to catch up to Peter and Grayson – and Dean appears. Some dialogue exchange happens, and Andrea realizes that her hatred for Grayson is actually love; but turns away from it; as well as turns away from helping her “Mother.” She asks Daniel to teleport them back to Galana… but something goes very, very wrong…

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 42: “Oh Mother Dearest…”

Writer’s Note: Peter, Grayson and Pawl are teleported to Mother Draco. Dean however teleports into the room and warns Grayson not to hand over the blade and that Mother Draco is more than she appears to be. Mother Draco reveals her true self, taking the form of an Ancient Red Dragon… to which Dean takes on his true form – a Silver Dragon… and as if that wasn’t enough – the Shadowy Figure appears – revealing himself – to which both and Peter and Grayson make an amazing discovery…

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 43: “Got Time To Kill?”

Writer’s Note: After two years, Neverending Nights finally returns. With this episode – our heroes find themselves somewhere… and they have no memory how they got there! Someone close by provides some clues as to what may have happened. Have our heroes finally done? Could it be true? Are they heroes? Is this the first and final episode of Season 3? Watch the video and see! Eagle eyed viewers may even notice something more unusual than the fact that Peter and Grayson have no memory of how they got where they are…

BONUS VIDEO: In Episode 43, Peter mentions being lost “in the City.” This event is based off an actual event that happened in 2005 in New York City, during the Machinima Film Festival. The audio used to make this bonus feature was ripped right from the video that Amanda Watkins had filmed of us wandering around NYC looking for somewhere to eat. The entire night (everything from being a part of the 2005 Machinima Film Festival to hanging out and getting to know Amanda & Reece Watkins and Ben Grussi impacted us of Neverending Nights beyond measure. I knew I had to write it into the final season. So the reference Peter makes is to that night. And here’s the audio of that night made into a machinima piece. Download it here.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 44: “Seeing the Unseen”

Writer’s Note: This episode features the debut of Daniel Rouk in the Neverending Nights machinima series. Interesting note that I met Daniel Rouk through Lindsay Archer, but have yet to meet him in person. This is Daniel’s first venture into the Machinima world and I was definitely glad to include him in our series. In this episode, Peter and Grayson try to figure out how to escape from their current jail cell… but as they begin talking… they learn that they’re not alone. There’s someone else in their jail cell!

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 45: “A Friend In Need.”

Writer’s Note: This Episode brings in Travis A. Richard’s to do a new part. Travis, normally our music master for Neverending Nights, who previously voiced the father of Peter and Grayson, returns to do the lines of Dimi the Bard (and his “friend” Steve). The character of Dimi was created by Travis on the Neverending Nights forum contest, in which we asked our viewers to come up with characters to appear in the third season of Neverending Nights. I figured it was only fitting that Travis be the one to voice of the character he created. This episode also brings into question Grayson’s sexuality and sexual performance issues (if there are any!) What happens next is chaos. Insanity is beginning to settle in on our dynamic duo…

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 46: “Dude, Where’s My Sword?”

Writer’s Note: Peter and Grayson begin to piece together what happened in those last few moments when they confronted the Red Dragon of the Crimson Draco Legion and discovered they had the same father… However, in recalling everything that happened that led them to the point of them being imprisoned by the Crimson Draco Legion’s Soldiers… Grayson recalls something about it all – something that frightens him more than being stuck in prison with Peter for the rest of his natural life! Now that Grayson remembers – the question remains – how will they escape from their prison?

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 47: “A New Hope.”

Writer’s Note: Peter and Grayson prepare to make a jailbreak… but clearly these two couldn’t pull this off on their own. So who is going to help him? Well, someone we haven’t seen in awhile makes a return! Also, this episode features Stephen Crouch, who takes over as the voice actor of Pawl the Dorf. (That’s right… We also get to see Pawl the Dorf in this episode!) The new “quest” for our heroes is given in this episode … and who… or what is the “final blow” that Grayson’s sword is meant to slay? And will they succeed in doing it? Hang on folks, because the beginning of the end has only just begun!

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 48: “The Assassin Strikes Back!”

Writer’s Note: This is the real debut of Stephen Crouch as the new “Pawl the Dorf.” The original voice actor declined to return for the third and final season, so Stephen Crouch was selected as a replacement. While I think it’s difficult to replace the originality that we created for the “Pawl the Dorf” character – when I asked Stephen to do it, I simply told him, “Just have fun with it. Do what you want. This is about having fun, and seeing this to the end. Give it a Piratey/Scottish/Irish accent – but don’t worry about trying to sound like Paul. Sound like how you think he should sound now!”

And I think you can really tell that Stephen jumped in and had a blast with the character. The way he enunciates some of the things – and how he “mutters” other parts – just really drove it home for me. I mean I could barely keep my eyes dry when he said, “Well for starters, you can fall on your own sword!” The mutters, almost beneath his breath (and still keeps the amazing accent) and adds the line, “That should get things off to a good start.” I mean, when I wrote that line, I naturally envisioned Paul reading that line – and heard it in my head – as one long sentence. But the way Stephen brought that influx of difference between the announcement, and then muttered it – made that line golden.

I also believe that you can tell that Amanda was a lot more comfortable in front of the mic this season, now that she had some experience from the previous season! Her voice really shines with quality! This episode right here – hearing all of this come together, is what I have missed. We have created something amazing here – and we’re marching towards the end! But what a great end it’s going to be! But that’s getting ahead of ourselves! Sit back and enjoy the episode! I know I certainly did!

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 49: “The Return of the Goblins!”

Writer’s Note: It had to happen sooner or later – the Goblins make their debut into Season 3. Something interest to note – Neverending Nights has a fairly huge viewership outside of the United States (why this is so, I am not entirely certain). But several people from “Across The Pond” have noted that they have had a difficult time understanding the goblins in Season 1 and Season 2, though they still found them funny just because of how the voices sounded. So for Season 3, I reduced the pitch from 150% down to 140% (for the males) and reduced the female (Ellen) down even further, to 130% (so that she at least sounded remotely female). Several people reported still having difficulty understanding the goblins, so the script for that specific episode was posted on the forum so folks could read what is being said. This episode also marks the return of Alan the Astounding. As noted previously, Daniel’s role in Season 2 was originally slated to be Alan the Astounding (seeking revenge on Peter and Grayson for theft of one of his possessions) which is why he was to be sympathetic to Andrea’s cause (who claimed her sword had been stolen). The actor who voice Alan the Astounding could not schedule recordings later in Season One, when we needed him so Daniel the Destructive was created to fulfill the rest of the role for Season 1 and all of Season 2. Now, Chad Yantos, who voiced Alan the Astounding, agreed to come back so that we could properly wrap up his storyline.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 50: “Destiny or Chance?”

Writer’s Note: This one is a quick, short episode. It’s pretty much a “set up” episode – setting up the next few episodes, as well as telling the over all main quest that will be the center of attention for Season 3. The note of “Destiny or Chance” is a reference to my good friend Lindsay Archer. A long time ago, she and I wrote a story about two characters – Lyra and Helm. Lyra had a horse by the name of “Destiny” (named after Lindsay’s horse) and Helm had a dog by the name of “Chance.”

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 51: “Wanted: Dead Or Alive.”

Writer’s Note: As if the luck of our heroes couldn’t get any worse… It would seem that the Crimson Draco Legion has beat our heroes to the nearest city, Pomtom. And as if that wasn’t bad enough, it would seem like someone our heroes trusted may have actually set this up all along…!

This episode was fun to film. I enjoyed adding the “Wanted” poster into this episode, which was actually just a screen shot made to look like a part of the actual scene.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 52: “These Aren’t The Heroes We’re Looking For.”

Writer’s Note: This was a fun episode to put together… Because I enjoyed setting it up as though at the end of Episode 51, that Amiee the Armorer has betrayed Peter and Grayson – when in truth – if you look carefully – when she talks to them – when she says, “Then I shouldn’t delay…” (at the end of Episode 51) – she’s looking inside the city, and spots Gariff and Kabewse, two knights who have been following Peter and Grayson around since very early on in Season One! This episode originally did not contain the scene between Amiee the Armorer, Ann the Armorer and Ed the Engraver; that entire scene was written up last minute to expand on the episode and show where Amiee the Armorer gets the replica armor of the Knights. This episode was the debut performance by Jason and Colette Cosky. I was very glad to include them in this series. We had a riot (as the out takes will show) recording the episode! An interesting note – originally when I started Season 3, I was unable to get a hold of Adam Freese, so I was going to have Jason take over the role of Grayson the Fighter and Colette take over the role of Andrea the Assassin/Ruth the Redeemed!

This episode was fun to film. I enjoyed adding the “Wanted” poster into this episode, which was actually just a screen shot made to look like a part of the actual scene.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 53: “Forging Destiny.”

Writer’s Note: Peter and Grayson got some new armor in the previous episode, and I put it to a poll if they should keep that armor. Folks voted that they should (as it was a logical progression). Somewhat surprised, I went with it – and made the armor a little more “flashy” than it was previously but kept the heavy armor set otherwise the same! This episode also gives our would be heroes the next piece to the puzzle that is needed to fix Grayson’s magical sword – and the fate of the Blade of Destiny is revealed as to what it was truly made to do…

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 54: “Back By (Somewhat) Popular Demand.”

Writer’s Note: This episode is mostly filler episode. I wanted a chance to go back to Alan the Astounding, and kind of focus on him for a bit. He was a character from the first season that was supposed to carry on into the second season, but due to scheduling conflicts, he was unable to do so (and thus Daniel the Destructive was created to take his place). Now able to return to the fold, I wanted to pick up the story that was originally laid out for Alan the Astounding (him wanting his magical coin purse back to resume his endless drinking!) In this episode he meets Diane the Drinker (who is voiced by Sara Graham-Cadena … who, among NeN fans should be more famous (infamous?) as the person who invented the “That Kicks Rocks!” saying that became so popular in the series!) You might want to hang out past the credits on this episode… since it was a filler episode… I wanted to add something at the end for some extra laughs!

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 55: “All Time ‘Lowe.’ “

Writer’s Note: This episode is very special to me. Since I knew this was the final season of Neverending Nights – I figured I’d go all out. I’d ask people who were icons to me – and helped me shape the person I am today. This episode features Al Lowe. (And thus the clever title of ‘All Time Lowe.’) If you’re wondering who Al Lowe is – you either lived under a rock during the 80’s – or you weren’t born yet. (Sad how frequently the latter is true these days… signifying how old I am getting!) At any rate, Al Lowe is responsible for a great many games – but the one he is most famous (or is that infamous?) for would be none other than the Leisure Suit Larry series. To say the Larry Laffer, and the rest of the Sierra Online games, had an impact on me – would perhaps be a very, very, very big understatement. Sierra Online games (Leisure Suit Larry, King’s Quest, Police Quest, Gabriel Knight, Quest for Glory, Space Quest, etc) really opened the doors for my creative mind in a brand new way. They are the reason my interest in computers spiked. And without a doubt, Al Lowe, creator of Leisure Suit Larry, helped shape, mold, and create the sense of humor I have today. Al Lowe knew how to be funny, without going over the top. He knew how to be dirty, but tasteful at the same time. He mastered humor. I have, since then, tried to follow those footsteps he walked (and those are some mighty big shoes!)… and a lot of that shows in this series. I tried to make the show about quick banter and dialogue, rather than big explosions and cuss words. I could spend the rest of my days saying thank you to Al Lowe, and it’d never be enough. But just in case – here’s one more – Thank you, Al Lowe.

Now, that said – this episode has Grayson pondering why Peter is getting all the women at the bar. Grayson bumps into Big Al and gets the advice of a life time…

This episode also introduces Jules Lieby, who ironically, I would have never met had it not been for Sierra Online. Jules was a member of the Sierra forum, where I first got to know her, then later on my own forum and even on the Sierra Help Pages as well! I had the good fortune of meeting Jules when I went to visit in New Orleans – and was amazed to find that she is just as beautiful in person – both physically and mentally – as she was on the forums. Jules is one of the most down to Earth incredible people I have had the good fortune of meeting, and calling a friend forever.

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 56: “Funkafied!”

Writer’s Note: This episode features another very special guest to me. This one is Greg Johnson. You may be asking yourself, “Who is Greg Johnson?” Well let me educate you in the ways of Greg Johnson’s Funkafied Fame! Greg Johnson is one half of the team that made the incredible series, “Toejam & Earl.” To say the outlandish humor and zanniness of this game was beyond amazing would be an understatement! I remember spending days on this game, especially with my good friends Tammy & Chuck Stevens! Greg is an extremely busy person, but he took a moment out of his hectic schedule to lend us a voice when I asked! I can’t thank Greg enough for doing this! So sit back and prepare to be Funkafied!

Neverending Nights
EPISODE 57: “Pawn Of the Dead (… or ‘Grave Situation’… again)”

Writer’s Note: Neverending Nights – Episode 57 – Pawn of the Dead. Amiee the Armorer discovers some useful information and shares it with Peter and Grayson, sending them on their quest to reignite the Blade of Destiny. However, nothing is ever easy as Peter and Grayson discover that Amiee the Armorer didn’t exactly fill them in on some of the more… dangerous parts of the mission that lay between them and their goal.

Neverending Daze
EPISODE 01: “The Real Daze.”

Writer’s Note: Neverending Daze was created because the folks from Obsidian/Atari had contacted us to do a contract with them and release some NWN2 Machinima pieces to help promote the soon to be released NWN2. It was definitely an amazing experience. Both Adam and I got to go to the Obsidian Office and meet the wonderful team behind NWN2, as well as tinker around with NWN2 while we were in their office. While we were there, they showed us some of the powerful tools that the NWN2 toolset had over NWN1, and answered a ton – and I mean, a ton! – of our questions on how we could make it work for machinima. We also got to go backstage at E3 into the Atari booth and meet with a handful of Atari executives and got treated like celebrities while we were back there! Definitely an amazing moment in our journey. We were given Alpha/Beta copies of the game to make these pieces in. Our first episode, we wanted to make fun of how popular reality television was these days – and thus created an episode that would introduce the characters by doing a parody of MTV’s “Real World.” When we were thinking of a title for the series, we wanted to keep it similar to our own – so, rather than Neverending Nights – we originally called it “Neverending Days” – and then laughed at the notion and rapidly changed “Days” to “Daze.” And we knew then – we had the perfect title for the series. Something unique about this series, we tackled it like “Bugs Bunny.” Simply, a character could die in one episode, and still appear in the next episode just fine. Each episode stood on its own merits, but still, we had the storyline sort of carry from episode to episode, regardless.

Neverending Daze
EPISODE 02: “What Is Beauty? (Part One).”

Writer’s Note: Interesting to note about this episode – all of the episodes were written before the Beta copies of the game arrived in the mail. Now, since Neverwinter Nights is based in Forgotten Realms, and Beholders are a center piece of Forgotten Realms. So this episode was supposed to be about a Beholder. (The whole saying of, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” – which is why it was originally titled “What Is Beauty?”). We had already laid down the voice tracks and assumed the Beholder would be a part of the toolset. Much to our own horror and dismay – when the disks arrived – we discovered somehow (for whatever reason!) Beholders were not available in the toolset! We considered scrapping the entire episode and trying to come up with some additional ideas – but in the end we stuck with it. This episode actually connects to Episode 03, which is the second part to this story.

Neverending Daze
EPISODE 03: “What Is Beauty? (Part Two)”

Writer’s Note: This story continues from Episode 02, where the main creature to be encountered had been intended to be a Beholder. Instead, in a mad scramble – we used one of the devil/demons and changed the dialogue around to reflect that in this episode. This episode (within the zip file, which is why it’s so large) – contains two versions of the episode. There is one episode with “subtitles” for the devil, which I had done the voice for (with no digital modifications! That’s actually one of the many voices I am able to do!) I really wished it had been a Beholder for this episode, because we were going to spoof the episode from the animated “Dungeons & Dragons” cartoon from the 80’s with this.

Neverending Daze
EPISODE 04: “A Grave Situation.”

Writer’s Note: This was a fun episode to do. Knowing the fate of the characters by the time they reach the end of the episode, I went all out with this one. This is one of those times, where I said – characters can die and appear in the next episode just fine. With this episode, what we had wanted to do (other than have fun!) was high light how combat looked in Neverwinter Nights 2 compared to combat in Neverwinter Nights 1 (where it looked more like they were often dancing, rather than actual combat).

Neverending Daze
EPISODE 05: “Giant Problems.”

Writer’s Note: This is one of the episodes where we ran into several issues filming. For example, when we “possessed” the Frost Giant, it had unexpected “teleported” itself to the far corner of the map – and we could not move the Frost Giant while we were possessing/controlling. This was an unexpected issue with the game – that we were suddenly forced to work around. We did this – by leaving the Frost Giant, not possessing him, and instead – to “show him approaching” we did a slow zoom on the Frost Giant in an attempt to make it look like he was moving forward. In this episode, we also wanted to high light Neverwinter Nights 2’s amazing ability to scale anything within the game. This can been seen as we scaled the house (and door) to a giant size, as well as the cat that they encounter inside the house. This ability to scale items was an amazing addition to the toolset.

Neverending Daze
EPISODE 06: “Task of the Nay Sayer.”

Writer’s Note: Atari once again approached us when they were going to release the first expansion for Neverwinter Nights 2, entitled “Mask of the Betrayer.” This one was different in that I had done most of the work on my own – from writing, filming, editing. With the full release of Neverwinter Nights 2, all the models that we had used in the Beta versions of the game were no longer available. This is why this episode features a brand new cast of characters. Sadly, Paul who had done the previous voices of the dwarf (in the other episodes, as well as Neverending Nights) was not available to record and declined to return for the dwarven part in this episode. As a result, I did both the role of the Halfling and the Dwarf, once again, with no digital enhancements. Adam returned for the role as the leader. In this episode, we had wanted to high light a number of things that the expansion was bringing to the Neverwinter Nights 2 game – from new races, creatures, animals, and influence system – as well as The Blue Dragon. In this episode we had made fun of the ever increasing popular incident from the “Don’t taze me, bro!” that had happened.

Neverending Skewl Daze
EPISODE 01: “A NeN Project for Poppy’s Class.”

Writer’s Note: I had no hand in writing this episode. Poppy (our now famous “Salt Vendor” from the Neverending Nights series) wanted to do something unique for her class in College. Rather than do a normal video to present her thesis – she wanted to use Machinima to present it – and more so – use the characters with Neverending Nights to do so! She thought this would give her video a unique spin – and make it stand out from the rest! (Which I am sure it did… now that may or may not have been a good thing!) She did pass the class – so we can take comfort in that! Everyone – except for Adam, Poppy and myself – were new to recording in the studio. So some of them were very monotone – or some of them could not stop laughing – and some just got crazy. While the content of this video will undoubtedly go above the majority of people’s heads (since it was an actual thesis for College – and there’s a lot of big words in there!) – I would recommend at least hanging out until you get to the Out Takes – because this is where the fun comes in. PLEASE NOTE: The Out Takes do have a considerable amount of cussing in them! (Mostly Adam… But then whose surprised by that?) ;)
