Dink the Goblin

Dink the Goblin

Race: Goblin
Occupation: Former Dancer, Would Be Destroyer of Worlds, Adventurer
Place of Birth: Stonemountain Caves
Known Relatives: Mother (Unknown Name), Father (Unknown Name)
First Appearance: (Seen) Neverending Nights – Episode Nine: It’s Not the Size; (Named in) Neverending Nights – Episode Eleven: Deep, Dark, Revenge (This Is How We Roll)
History: Like all goblins from Stonemountain, Dink grew up a dancer. But that’s where Dink’s story varies. Dink wasn’t content being a dancer. Like his friend, Charlie, Dink always wanted something more out of life. But Dink didn’t fantasize about adventure and treasure; rather Dink fantasized about wielding powerful magic. One day, a small Halfling by the name of Alan (“The Astounding!”) had ventured into the goblin caves of Stonefrost. Dink had watched him cautiously, unsure of the Halfling’s intentions. When the Halfling suddenly collapsed, Dink rushed to his side. Believing that the Halfling was dying, Dink began to ask the Halfling, who by his glowing staff, was clearly a wizard of some kind, about magic. The Halfling’s words were difficult to understand – Dink assumed, because the Halfling was losing motor functions and his brain was shutting down. In truth, however, Alan was merely so intoxicated that he was on the verge of passing out again.

When the Halfling passed out, Dink took Alan’s staff and pouch, and swore that he would learn magic in Alan’s honor. He returned back to tell Albert, Bob, Charlie and Ellen – who wanted Dink to take them back to where the Halfling had died, so they could dispose of the body – only to discover, the Halfling’s body was gone. Despite the lack of blood, or proof otherwise, the goblins assumed that bugbears (or trolls) had devoured the dead Halfling.

Dink had tried to learn magic from the book he had found in the Halfling’s pouch; but Dink’s limited intelligence often prevented him from completing the sentences properly that were required to cast most spells. Still, this didn’t stop Dink from trying to learn magic. Every night on Bridge Watch, Dink would cease paying attention to his surroundings and continue his attempts at casting spells.

Dink even ventured into Stonefrost City to the Mage Store there – Karn & Foible and picked up “Magic For Idiots” book. Still this did little to further Dink’s quest to learn magic. During one of his turns on Bridge Watch, Dink was approached by a Dwarf who sought to cross the bridge. Dink informed him, the only way to cross the bridge was to Dance – and that the Dwarf, however unlikely, would have to dance better than Dink. Well, as it turned out the Dwarf – Pawl the Dorf – happened to be classically trained in dance, having been raised by humans; and all those months of Dink studying magic made him a weaker dancer; granting Pawl, and his two companions, Peter and Grayson, safe passage across the bridge.

When Dink didn’t return from Bridge Watch, Albert, Bob and Charlie went to the Bridge to find him panting and wheezing for breath. After asking Dink what had happened, they brought him back to the Goblin Dance Floor and put Ellen the Goblin on Bridge Watch.

Unbeknownst to Dink and the others, things were set in motion that day that would change all of their lives.

Albert, Bob and Charlie would end up encountering Andrea the Assassin (the name she was going by at the time) and Daniel the Destructive as the duo were pursuing Peter and Grayson. Andrea the Assassin forcibly recruited the assistance of the Goblin trio with the use of Daniel the Destructive’s magic. Along the way, the trio of goblins complained and conspired to escape Andrea the Assassin’s ruthless control. Eventually, Ellen and Dink the Goblin were also recruited into Andrea the Assassin’s growing army of goblins. Dink and Ellen, however, met an untimely demise when Evil Foo killed them just to show how “evil” she was.

Andrea the Assassin, however, in turn, killed Evil Foo for what she had done – not that she cared about either Ellen or Dink, but mostly because the smaller army inconvenienced her. This, however, convinced the other three goblins to remain with Andrea the Assassin, until she finally caught up with Peter the Ranger and Grayson the Fighter in the home of the Crimson Dragon. In the confusion, the trio (Albert, Bob and Charlie) escaped and attempted to return home; only to discover their home had fallen under a new Goblin King, who had a glowing red sword and suspiciously glowing eyes. Suspecting that magic was involved, the trio investigated further – and discovered a bugbear (or perhaps a troll – that is still up for debate!) – had disguised itself and over thrown the original king. The three goblins were imprisoned and sentenced to death – only to be rescued by Ellen (whom they had resurrected off screen!)

But even Dink’s death was highly over exaggerated. As it turned out, when Dink was killed by Evil Foo – the Staff captured his soul within its crystal. So now Dink is an extremely powerful weapon, just waiting to take over somebody’s body. As the staff laid there for several days, lo and behold it was finally picked up by someone – someone Dink had felt a connection to. It had been the Hafling who died in the caves – Alan the Astounding! Only now, with Dink able to read Alan’s blurry mind as soon as Alan touched the staff – did Dink realize that Alan had not perished in the caves, as he first thought. Instead, the Halfling had merely passed out from being intoxicated. (That, Dink thought, in hindsight, would explain the over powering smell of Tokillyuh – a powerful drink made by trolls – on Alan’s person. Dink tried, repeatedly to take over Alan’s mind and body; but the Halfling remained too drunk to get a hold of his mind. That very same night, Alan sold the Staff at a pawn shop in order to have money to buy more drinks.

Dink’s current fate and whereabouts remain unknown.

Dimi the Demented

Dimi the Demented

Race: Human
Occupation: Former Bard
Place of Birth: D’mensia
Known Relatives: Mother (Unknown Name), Father (Unknown Name)
First Appearance: Neverending Nights – Episode 45 – A Friend In Need
History: Dimi is a human from the distant land of D’mensia. Seeking to travel the world, Dimi took up becoming a bard. He traveled with a circus called ‘The Black Flood.’ It was during this time at the Circus that he met ‘Steve’ – a person that no one, except for Dimi can apparently see or even hear. Steve claimed that he worked for the Order of the Silver Dragon, and that there was an urgent mission that he needed Dimi for. Dimi, who was arguing with Steve – though no one else could see or hear this ‘Steve’ – eventually made the people of the Black Flood Circus so nervous, that they had him fetch some firewood in the Dark Wood Forest – but quickly left him behind. He returned to the empty camp where the Black Flood had been.

Steve insisted that this was fine; that Dimi was destined for much more. However, when Dimi entered the next closest town; the townsfolk were weary of him, news of his “insanity” from the Circus that had just passed through, preceded him. Dimi finally gave up arguing with ‘Steve’ and began doing as Steve requested. Dimi began trailing what seemed to be a woman named Andrea, the Assassin. Steve insisted that she was an agent of the Red Dragon, Crimson – which was ridiculous to Dimi – since Dragons had not been seen for thousands of years. Still, she wore armor that bore the crest of a Red Dragon. Dimi was there, in the shadows, when Andrea the Assassin questioned and then killed a weapon vendor in the City of Stonefrost. She was asking about a Magical Sword; and from the sounds of it, it was the legendary (and once again, thought to be fictional) ‘Blade of Destiny’ – forged to specifically kill Dragons.

Dimi began to believe that Steve was right. Perhaps there was Dragons in this world once again. Dimi continued to follow Andrea the Assassin, until one day she suspected that she was being followed and set up a trap. She snared Dimi as he stepped onto magical runes. Encased within the magical prison, Andrea the Assassin approached him and smiled. “You’ve been following me for some time, bard,” she had said. “I suspected it, but could not be sure. I set this trap, in case someone was following me. Now, it shall banish you to another dimension entirely. Fare well.”

Dimi was transported to the Crimson Draco Prison. When Ruth the Redeemed had come seeking to free Peter and Grayson, she learned that Amiee the Armorer had already freed them. Ruth the Redeemed released all the prisoners to incite a rebellion against the Crimson Draco Legion, which was already reeling from the loss of Crimson, the Red Dragon. Dimi was about to make his escape, when Steve insisted that they go down a different hallway – where a glowing stone hoovered in the center of the room. Steve apparently told Dimi that his destiny lied elsewhere now and that Dimi had to touch the stone. Dimi, though leery of the idea of touching a glowing stone did so – and with that, Dimi vanished – and when he awoke, he saw a sign that said, “Welcome to the City of Ambertread.”

Dimi’s destiny, or what it is that Steve has “foreseen” for him, remains unknown.

Eyes: Brown
Hair: Brown

Accessories:

INVISIBLE FRIEND: Dimi had become attached to an invisible friend by the name of ‘Steve.’ However, when Dimi was transported by the magical stone, he and Steve became separated.

NOTE: While the character’s name is Dimi, and he was a part of the Black Flood, which sounds like it might be ‘Dark Tide’ – they are two different characters. You should, however, check out the adventures of the other Dimi and the rest of the Dark Tide at: The Dark Tide Website (A Neverwinter Nights Machinima by Travis Richards).

Diane The Drinker

Diane the Drinker

Race: Half-Elf
Occupation: Former Vineyard Owner
Place of Birth: Graypso Rath
Known Relatives: Mother (Unknown Name), Father (Unknown Name), Rudy the Ravishing (Husband), Reade the Radical (Son)
First Appearance: Episode Fifty-Four: ‘Back By (Somewhat) Popular Demand.’
History: Though many call Diane ‘The Drinker’ – in truth, she was a former vineyard owner and one of the most respected wine tasters in all of the land. Diane once owned the largest grape plantations, creating her unique flavor of wine called ‘The Stolen Kiss’ – named so, because whenever the glass left your lips, you wanted to taste it just one more time. Many tried to ascend to her level of wine making, even trying to somehow mimic the same flavors – but none ever could. As such, other vineyards often requested her presence to come and taste their wine – and see how they could improve it. When a specific wine met Diane’s standards, she would say, “That kicks rocks!” (Implying that the wine was great). Little did she know that this saying would eventually become a phenomenon and spread like wildfire. Mostly, because these other vineyard owners wanted to be like her.

However, the day would come where her life would drastically change. Trolls, from the Northern Wastes, ravished the lands in Grayso Rath, destroying her vineyard and forcing her to flee. Her reputation as the most respected vineyard owner however, always provided for her. There was never any city or inn that did not welcome her and provide a place for her, as she made her rounds tasting various wines. After all, if Diane was in their city, it often attracted others to come and see which wines she enjoyed; and that wine, instantly become one of the most expensive wines!

During her travels, from city to city, she met a Halfling wizard by the name of Alan (“the Astounding!”). She had heard of Alan (“the Astounding!”)’s ability to drink, so she had hoped to talk to him about what flavors of wine he enjoyed; however, he had no money for drinking, since he was seeking two thieves who stole his magical pouch that supplied endless amounts of gold. Diane recalled the two he described asking for directions to the City of Pomtom. Alan thanked her and said he would return one day so that they could celebrate his victory by buying a round of drinks (or two, or three, or four…)

Alan the Astounding kept his promise; he eventually caught up with Grayson at The Bar of Destiny, which Grayson had opened after the defeat of the Dragon of Silverlake. Grayson felt bad for the inconvenience he had inflicted upon Alan the Astounding, and offered him free drinks for life at the bar. Alan took the time to explain that he had met Diane the Drinker, the most respected wine taster in all the land. Grayson sent messengers to contact her and inform her that they would be honored to have her make wine at the Bar of Destiny.

Diane was excited to not only make wine once again; but to be given several hundred acres of land to grow the grapes again, just outside the City of Neverending. While at the Bar of Destiny, it would seem the bar took on its name – as a young man named Rudy the Ravishing came in one night, seeking a glass of Diane’s fine wine. However, The Stolen Kiss this time, came from Diane as she fell in love with Rudy the Ravishing.

In a few short years they were married, and Diane gave birth to their son, Reade the Radical.

Eyes: Hazel
Hair: Auburn

SKILL: The most skilled wine maker and taster in all the land.

Dean the Dragon

Dean The Dragon

Race: Dragon
Occupation: Protector of Ator, Whatever He Wants
Place of Birth: Realm of Dragons
Known Relatives: Sandscale (Brass Dragon – Brother), Stoneclaws (Bronze Dragon – Brother), Skywing (Copper Dragon – Brother), Auric (Gold Dragon – Brother), Platinum (Platinum Dragon – All Father)
First Appearance: Neverending Nights – Episode 21: Accumulation
History: Dean is but one of the Dragons of the Metallic Order (Brass, Bronze, Copper, Gold, and Silver – with Platinum being their All Father). Though Dean is not his “true” Draconic name, it is the one he adopted when he travels the world in Human form. Dean’s true, Draconic name, though rarely spoken is Argent. The Dragons of the Metallic Order long swore that they would not directly interfere or influence the way of Mortals. However, the Dragons of the Chromatic Order (Black, Blue, Green, Red, and White – with the Dragon of Silverlake as their All Father) made no such vow. Argent watched over the world, furious that the Chromatic Order was doing so much not only to influence, but rule over the world. The most powerful of the Chromatic Order was none other than the Red Dragon named Crimson. Her relentless evil influence spread across the land as she amassed an army called The Crimson Draco Legion. Argent fought with the other Metallic Order, saying that sitting idly by was not the right answer; that they too, had to return to the world and do something about the Chromatic Dragons and their evil ways.

Still, the Metallic Order disagreed. They believed if they interfered with the ways of Mortals, that Mortals would come to rely on them and become weaker, rather than stronger. Argent went against the others, the first to do so in the Order, and ventured to the world, where he adopted the disguise of an old, human wizard with silver eyes and silver hair. Dean traveled the world, never directly taking action, but more often than not gently “nudging” the Mortals to do specific things.

Argent took up residence in a cave, just outside the City of Ator, where as the human wizard Dean, he would venture down into the City of Ator to walk among the humans. He sensed one of the Chromatic Dragons within the area – so he took it upon himself to inform them that somewhere near the City of Ator, there was a blue dragon named Cobalt – and that the city would have to be ready. A few short years later, Cobalt did indeed attack the City of Ator, but the people were not ready (none of them believing that Dragons walked the world, since it had been thousands of years since any dragons had ever been seen or heard from – other than in the form of tales told by bards). Dean had been watching, hoping that the humans would be able to drive Cobalt back. But the Blue Dragon was too powerful. Dean was forced to make his presence known and changed into his Draconian form. He took no action, other than roaring – which startled Cobalt to find one of the Metallic Order in the World of Mortals. The people of Ator cheered and showered Argent with riches. This was not what Argent had wanted, however. Though he did not directly take action against Cobalt, he could see that the people would rely on him to protect them. Argent explained that he could not defend them against the Blue Dragon – that they needed to take it upon themselves to defend themselves. The Mages were inspired by the awe and power that Argent represented and switched from studying simple “Dazzle” spells to forging magical weapons that would protect them against Cobalt – or any threat that dared strike against the City of Ator.

Argent was pleased with the results; the humans only needed to be educated and to believe in themselves. They had become too complacent. Argent knew he had to travel the world more – but he always considered the City of Ator his home away from home. One of his first ventures, included meeting Amiee, and Elf who had unparalleled skills at making dresses and clothing that fit perfectly. She was able to – at a glance – guess someone’s shirt, dress, and pant size, with 100% accuracy. Dean took her in and helped her hone her skills at her craft. As she grew older and more skilled, Dean explained that the outside world rarely cared about fluffy gowns. The world outside Sunflower Vale was a dangerous one, and so she turned to making armor with Dean’s help. From designing gowns to designing metallic armor, Amiee’s skill increased rapidly as she mastered the craft of making armor with a metal that Dean called ‘Silverscale.’ The metal she had been using called ‘Silverscale’ was actually the metallic scales from Dean’s Dragon form; forging extremely powerful armor, with an assortment of magical properties that protected those who wore it.

Dean left Amiee to forge her own destiny, and explained there was other tasks he had to tend to.

Dean ventured to a small village called Northern Stonepark. It was there he met a young woman, whose talent for art was amazing. She drew several incredible designs for armor, weapons, toys and even homes. Dean encouraged her to take her art and do more with it. He explained that she could create the very things she drew. Ann refused to believe it, but Dean showed her how to forge armor that she had designed in her art, once again, using Silverscale.

Ann’s skill at creating armor became legendary. Dean, before leaving, informed her that one day, her services will be called on – and to be ready. Because at a moment’s notice she will need to develop armor that would disguise two would be heroes being viciously hunted down by the Crimson Dragon. (This seemed like crazy talk to Ann, because there had been no dragons in the land for thousands of years!) Dean saw the doubt in her eyes, and simply said, “The one who will request the armor from you will be another Armorer – she will tell you the code, and you will know it’s time.”

Still, Ann was not convinced, so Dean added, “Tonight, when you go to Artifact Succession, you will meet a man there – his name will be Ed the Engraver. You two will, very quickly, fall in love with one another.”

As if the talk about Crimson Dragons wasn’t already foolish enough, the idea that Ann would meet someone at Ancient Succession and fall in love was ludicrous. So few people came through Northern Stonepark, and she knew almost everyone – and there was certainly no one named Ed the Engraver, and the chances of someone passing through with that name and title was little to none. But Ann the Armorer did indeed meet someone by the name of Ed the Engraver; and several years later, when Amiee the Armorer showed up, she made the armor that had been requested by her to hide two heroes from the Crimson Draco Legion.

Dean had left the night before that fateful storm over Northern Stonepark, and returned to Amiee the Armorer. Dean assured her that one day, two young men would approach her seeking armor – and that she should keep an eye out for them, as they were destined to do great things – whether they believed it or not. He explained that she would know them by how they explained “how grapes grow.” Amiee the Armorer thought nothing of it, until one day – two would be heroes came to her seeking armor in Stonefrost City. The Ranger, who should clearly know how grapes grow (being all outdoors man like) said that “grapes grow on bushes” – and she corrected him, explaining that they actually grew on trees – which immediately triggered the memory of what Dean had once told her several years ago. Amiee the Armorer began following Peter and Grayson, unsure of how these two seemingly dim-witted would be heroes would be the ones to “save the world.”

She nearly lost them a few times, while following them – but picked them up again in the City of Ator, where her good friend Poppy the Salt Vendor explained that she had just seen them both come into the town. (Poppy had previously sold salt to them in the City of Galana).

Amiee lost them again, just inside the caves behind the City of Ator, where they had gone to find and kill a dragon. She did, however, encounter a Silver Dragon, who explained that the two heroes had just left. The Silver Dragon, for some strange reason, seemed strangely familiar to Amiee – but she could not place it. The Silver Dragon recruited Amiee as an Agent of the Silver Draco, and urged Amiee to track and follow Peter and Grayson.

Dean followed Peter and Grayson as well; and was quite surprised when he sensed another from the Metallic Order within the city walls of Blackmire City. Dean tracked it down and discovered that Auric – the Gold Dragon – had been inspired by what he saw Argent doing; so he had come to the world of Mortals and adopted the human guise of a resurrection priest named Zoe Din. When Argent/Dean questioned Auric/Zoe Din about why he had come to the world of Mortals, Auric explained that he had been watching the two morals destined to slay the Dragon of Silverlake and foresaw the death of one of the two heroes – namely, Grayson, the heir to the Blade of Destiny. In the secrecy of the temple’s basement, Auric asked if Grayson was indeed the destined one; and if he was, he was doomed to fail. Argent simply said, “No, there is another.”

Auric remained in Blackmire City to watch over some mortals that had nearly perished at sea, while Argent continued to follow Peter and Grayson. When Andrea the Assassin and Daniel the Destructive finally caught up with Peter and Grayson; Dean had sensed that someone had placed a spell over Daniel’s memory, blocking out a small portion. Dean, with the Magic of Dragons, easily wiped away the spell placed there by the Captain of the Crimson Draco Legion. Daniel suddenly remembered what had happened at Gnome Mountain and recognized the crest that Andrea the Assassin wore. He kept quiet, and when it came time to teleport them all way as Andrea had commanded – he merely teleported Peter, Grayson, and Pawl – along with Dean the Dragon, hoping that Dean would destroy the Crimson Draco Mother. However, Dean upheld his promise to not directly take action and waited on Grayson, who courageously charged the Red Dragon, Crimson, and killed her with the Blade of Destiny. In the blinding flash of light, Dean disappeared and returned to the Realm of Dragons.

There, he plead his case that the Chromatic Dragons needed to be stopped; and that the Mortals would not rely on the Dragons as the Metallic Dragons suspected – but sometimes, everyone needs a nudge to do the right thing – even Dragons.

The Metallic Order agreed, and all of them descended down to the World of Mortals.

David the Delinquent

David the Delinquent

Race: Human
Occupation: Thief, Journeyman in Training
Place of Birth: Stonewall
Known Relatives: Mother (Unknown Name), Father (Unknown Name)
First Appearance: Neverending Nights – Sixty: But I’m A Lover, Not A Fighter
History: David the Delinquent was only an infant when his parents, both of them adventurers, had gone in search of the fabled Dragon Ball, which would allow the owners to control dragons. With his parents slain, David grew up on the streets, feeling as if he was born to emptiness. He survived by stealing out of necessity, for this was how he survived. One day, he had tried to steal from a man who had come to Stonewall – the man’s magical, green sword, had caught David’s attention. The man was none other than John the Journeyman, a renowned fighter known far and wide. John the Journeyman captured David just as he was trying to steal his pouch, but rather than turn David over to the authorities, he offered the choice of training David to become something better, something more.

David trained under John the Journeyman, spending many days and nights, doing meager tasks – which he often grew frustrated with. But John the Journeyman always told him, that everything happens for a reason – and doing meager tasks will allow David to hone his skills, if he concentrated on the task at hand, not whether it was meager or beneath him. Once he mastered the notion that nothing is ever beneath him, John the Journeyman began training David properly. With John’s guidance, David began to rapidly change his ways. He began growing up with a pure heart, wanting to become Stonewall’s greatest defender. He led a small group of other young street thieves, much like himself, that he called the “Stonewall Fighters” and began sharing what he had learned. He now spends his days, training, striving to be the greatest warrior possible, while at the same time using his skills and knowledge to uphold peace.

He has told John that one day, he, like his parents, would like to seek out the Dragon Balls, and rather than control the dragons – destroy the Dragon Balls, because no one should have that kind of power, for it would surly corrupt them.
