Ettin the Exiled

Ettin the Exiled

Race: Ettin
Occupation: Guardian
Place of Birth: Stonefrost Peak
Known Relatives: Mother (Unknown), Father (Unknown)
First Appearance: Episode Thirty Seven: ‘Crime Does Not Pay’
History: Ettin is actually nothing more than a giant born with two heads. His larger head was named Ed, his smaller head named Tiny. He was eventually nicknamed to Ed-tin, which evolved through mispronunciation of his name to ‘Et-tin’ or just ‘Ettin.’ Little did the Giants know that this was not just any ordinary misfit child; several of the Giants began giving birth to these two headed giants. They dubbed them ‘Ettin’ named after the first one born. Initially, the Giants thought these children would prove favorable (having heard the human phrase, “Two heads are better than one”). However, it became very obvious to the Giants that these Ettins – despite having two heads – were not twice as smart. Ettins became exiled among the Giant community and learned to live on their own.

Despite their lack of intelligence, many found one good use for Ettins – guards. Their dual heads made them extremely observant, and very difficult to sneak by – becoming the bane of many Rogues who sought treasures. Of course, the Ettins were not that difficult to out smart – but most who employed Ettins counted on their fearsome appearance to prevent anyone from trying to reason with such a vicious looking monster.

Ettin, the First of the Ettins, had been the one that encountered Peter and Grayson – guarding a bridge that crossed the Sundered Belt. When each head (Ed and Tiny) began arguing, Peter, Grayson and Pawl (in Minotaur form) passed the Ettin with ease. The same trick that Andrea, Daniel, Albert, Bob and Charlie would do a little while later, pursing Peter and Grayson.

Ettin The Exiled still guards that very same bridge at the Sundered Belt.

Eyes: Hazel (on Ed’s Head), Brown (on Tiny’s Head)
Hair: None, Both Heads Are Bald.

Accessories:

WEAPON: Ettin the Exiled carries a club and a sword that he could easily smite someone with.

Emerald the Dragon

Emerald The Dragon!

Race: Dragon
Occupation: Green Dragon, Ruler of the Evergreen, Leader of the Emerald Legion
Place of Birth: Realm of Dragons
Known Relatives: Ankalagun (The All Father of Chromatic Dragons – Deceased), Skatha (The All Mother of Chromatic Dragons – Unknown), Obsidian (Black Dragon – Sister), Crimson (Red Dragon – Sister), Cobalt (Blue Dragon – Sister), Frostmourn (White Dragon – Sister)
First Appearance: Never Appeared In An Episode.
History: When the Platinum Dragon arrived in the World of Mortals, he brought with him light and life to the world. Skatha, the all Mother of Chromatic Dragons, seeking to devour the light, had tried to consume the rainbows that burst through the dark, dank clouds of the world. She tried so furiously to prevent any and all color to enter the world that she absorbed it into herself – in the end, becoming a colorful dragon herself – each head, representing one of the colors of the world – Red, for the fire; Blue, for the Skies; Green, for the grass and tress; Black, for the shadows created by the light; and White, for the pure snow in the Northern Lands.

She grew so furious at the Platinum Dragon, that she cut herself and bled each of the five colors. In a vile attempt to ruin what each of those colors meant, she corrupted her blood and grew each of them into a mighty dragon – Red – whose breath of fire was hotter than anything known; Blue, for the skies, whose lightning bolt breath could destroy anything; Green, for the grass, whose poisonous breath was made from some of the most lethal plants; Black, for the shadows, whose acidic breath was a massive force of destruction; and White, for the snow, whose breath could freeze anyone’s blood. When they were ready, she unleashed them upon the world.

After a thousand years of fighting and nearly sundering the World of Mortals, the Chromatic and Metallic Dragons agreed to leave the World of Mortals; it had been Cobalt that had arranged for the agreement, weaving her words in such a manner that it left a loophole for the Chromatic Dragons to return to the World of Mortals, knowing that once her deception had been revealed, the Metallic Dragons, bound by their Word and Honor, would still not violate their Oath.

Emerald claimed the Evergreen Forest as her domain; a land, prior to her arrival that had once been ruled by Elves. Emerald attacked and destroyed the Elven cities within the woods, and earned the name ‘Emereth’ among the Elves, which translated meant ‘Green Death.’ With Emerald within the Evergreen woods, the very forest around her began to die and become as tainted as her evil heart. Her very breath contaminates and changes the plants; from a vibrant green, to a murky, almost swamp like life – dubbing the lands The Dark Woods. The Elves who survived Emerald’s attack have sworn to one day retake their home; but for now, they have fled to the City of Neverending, where they have been forced to adapt to living like humans.

Eyes: Green
Hair: N/A

WEAPON: Other than being a deadly dragon, Emerald has a poison breath weapon.

Ellen the Goblin

Ellen the Goblin

Race: Goblin
Occupation: Former Dancer, Adventurer, Rebel Leader
Place of Birth: Stonemountain Caves
Known Relatives: Mother (Unknown Name), Father (Unknown Name)
First Appearance: Neverending Nights – Episode 29: The Plan
History: Like all of the goblins of Stonefrost Mountains, Ellen was born a dancer. All of the goblins enjoyed dance; it was all they ever did if they weren’t on Bridge Watch Duty. Ellen however, yearned for something else. There was something inside of her that told her that there was much more to life than simply dancing day in and day out (Editor’s Note: although, goblins have no real sense of ‘day in, day out’ since they live in a cave and have no accurate way to track of the passing of time; but that’s neither here nor there, and probably something for a later time).

At any rate, Ellen was drawn to Dink, who often (against regulation) ventured outside of the Stonefrost Caves and into Stonefrost City itself. Things took a change however, when Dink suddenly came into possession of a Staff of Magical ability and some books that he had apparently gotten from a dying Halfling Wizard. (The Halfling Wizard, as it would turn out, was not dying after all; but merely so intoxicated that he had lost consciousness – and it was none other than Alan the Astounding). Ellen began seeing a change in Dink; his obsession with Magic became darker. He began speaking to himself with a higher frequency (as if the amount of talking he did to himself wasn’t already alarming).

When Dink didn’t return from Bridge Watch, Albert, Bob and Charlie went to the Bridge to find him panting and wheezing for breath. After asking Dink what had happened, they brought him back to the Goblin Dance Floor and put Ellen the Goblin on Bridge Watch.

The trio dragged Dink back to the dance floor where he slowly recovered.

Unbeknownst to Ellen and the others, things were set in motion that day that would change all of their lives.

Albert, Bob and Charlie would end up encountering Andrea the Assassin (the name she was going by at the time) and Daniel the Destructive as the duo were pursuing Peter and Grayson. Andrea the Assassin forcibly recruited the assistance of the Goblin trio with the use of Daniel the Destructive’s magic. Along the way, the trio of goblins complained and conspired to escape Andrea the Assassin’s ruthless control. Eventually, Ellen and Dink the Goblin were also recruited into Andrea the Assassin’s growing army of goblins. Dink and Ellen, however, met an untimely demise when Evil Foo killed them just to show how “evil” she was.

Andrea the Assassin, however, in turn, killed Evil Foo for what she had done – not that she cared about either Ellen or Dink, but mostly because the smaller army inconvenienced her. Albert, Bob and Charlie had enough money to resurrect one of them – and only one. It was unanimously agreed that Ellen should be the one to be resurrected; Dink after all, had been turning further and further to the “dark side” and muttering to himself more and more about Magic and Conquering the World. The goblins opted to have Dink reincarnated. When Ellen was resurrected, they explained to her that she had to escape (since Andrea and Daniel believed that she was dead) and get back to the goblin kingdom – that there was something big that was about to go down. Dink’s reincarnation led Dink’s soul entering the Staff of Magic which he had taken from Alan the Astounding.

Ellen returned home, only to find that a new ‘Goblin King’ had taken over the throne. Ellen mustered up a small revolt of goblins to over throw the new ‘Goblin King’ whom she suspected was using magic to disguise himself and not even a true goblin.

After the defeat of the Red Dragon, Crimson, Andrea released Albert, Bob and Charlie from service. The trio returned to their goblin home, only to be immediately enslaved as ‘conspirators against the throne.’ (This confused the trio, as when they left there was no goblin king at all!) Ellen rescued the three of them from prison and insisted that they go fetch Peter and Grayson, since they had managed to kill the Red Dragon, perhaps these two heroes could help defeat this false ‘Goblin King.’

Hair: Black

SWORD: Ellen uses a non magical sword.

Ed the Engraver

Ed the Engraver

Race: Human
Occupation: Engraver
Place of Birth: Koskey
Known Relatives: Mother (Unknown Name), Father (Unknown Name), Ann the Armorer (Wife), Eloise the Elegant (Daughter), Dexter the Delightful (Son)
First Appearance: Neverending Nights – Episode Fifty-Two: ‘These Aren’t The Heroes We’re Looking For.’
History: They say there may be none as skilled as Ed the Engraver, when it comes to engraving objects. His ability to put such fine detail into every object – no matter the size, has even caused some jealousy among the Dwarven Community, because this is typically their specialty. Kings and Queens all across the lands and various kingdoms, hope to have their wedding rings or crowns etched with the fine engraving talent of Ed the Engraver. It was on such a journey to the land of Tollkeen, that a mysterious storm waylaid Ed the Engraver and forced him to take cover in a small hamlet known as Northern Stonepark.

He took shelter in a small eating establishment called “Ancient Succession.” The small hamlet of Northern Stonepark, which rarely saw visitors was now packed with travelers who were forced to take shelter from the onslaught of the mysterious storm. While he was there, he tried to make way for the women, so that they might have a seat first – when he bumped into someone. Clearly the small eating establishment could not hold these people for days. He turned to the woman and bowed slightly and asked, “My apologies, my lady, my name is Ed the Engraver. Might you have any idea where I might take shelter for the night, until the storm passes?”

He was rather shocked by the woman’s expression. One might have thought that she saw a ghost. What he did not know is, that this woman had just been told several weeks before that she would run into a man by the name of “Ed the Engraver” in this very establishment.

Ed the Engraver had taken shelter at The Stone Work Inn. But the following morning, when the weather had cleared and the other caravans were leaving Northern Stonepark – he did not go with them. Instead he sought out Ann the Armorer to thank her. As it turned out, he never left. Instead, he stayed to get to know her better, and in time, asked for her hand in marriage. With her armor making abilities, and his sharpened skill at engraving – the two of them began traveling, and eventually opened a business in Pomtom. And once again, years later, Dean’s prophecy had come true, when Amiee the Armorer had approached her and asked about making special suits of full plate armor.

Ann the Armorer and Ed the Engraver eventually wed, and had a daughter by the name of Eloise the Elegant, and later a son by the name of Dexter the Dashing.

Eyes: Hazel
Hair: Brown

Accessories:

WEAPON: Ed the Engraver wields a magically hammer called Milnur which was said to be enchanted by the Goddess, Nen herself, which allows Ed to create such beautiful objects with amazing detail.

Douglas the Guard

Dink the Goblin

Race: Human
Occupation: Protector of Ator, Guard
Place of Birth: City of Ator
Known Relatives: Mother (Unknown Name), Father (Unknown Name), Vern (Brother)
First Appearance: Neverending Nights – Episode 16: Dessert City?
History: Douglas was born and raised in the City of Ator. He has a younger brother named Vern, whom he is quite different from. Where as Vern enjoyed the peaceful life, having a wife and kids, Douglas was the one who was scaling the walls of the Atorian Caverns, venturing out past the Gates of Ator, and into the dry, humid desert land for days on end, surviving on only his wits.

When an old man, with silver eyes and silver hair, named Dean came to the City of Ator and warned them that a blue dragon, by the name of Cobalt was near by, none – save Douglas – listened to what the old man had to say. Admittedly, Douglas, like the rest of the City of Ator, thought the old man was suffering from Dry Madness – a madness that sweeps those who have been lost too long in the desert without proper food and water. After all, there had been no dragons seen for thousands of years upon the World of Mortals. Still, this inspired Douglas’ imagination, that he might one day fight and defeat an evil dragon, like the ancient stories once spoke of. When Douglas asked Vern if he thought the story could be true, Vern scoffed and said, “That wizard is just a crazy old man.”

However, a few short years later, the blue dragon Cobalt made its attack on the City of Ator – none were ready. It wasn’t until Dean, the silver haired, silver eyed wizard changed into the form of a silver dragon and roared – that it startled the Blue Dragon enough to drive it away. The City of Ator immediately enforced a draft, led by Commander Craig, to help protect the City. The Wizards of Ator, worked feverishly now – rather than seeking ways to improve their powerful spells – to crafting magical items against such magnificent and terrifying beasts. Douglas was one of the first soldiers to rise in the ranks under Commander Craig’s leadership.

Cobalt has yet to attack the City of Ator again; but Dean had warned them that Cobalt nearly succeeded the first time, because Dragons have been gone from the World of Mortals for so long, that Mortals became complacent. Now was the time to be ever vigilant.

While not one for adventure, or even fighting, Douglas’ brother also joined the City of Ator Army, if for no other reason than to protect his family. Now, more often than not, Douglas and Vern are the Guardians of the Gates of Ator – the first line of defense against any attacking force.

When Peter and Grayson ventured to the City of Ator, they were greeted by Vern and Douglas and cleared to enter the City.

Eyes: Hazel
Hair: Auburn

Accessories:
SWORD: Douglas, as all guards of Ator, was provided a magical weapon. Douglas’ blade is able to freeze an opponent with its chilling blade.
