A Fan of Dragonlance?

Just read this piece of news from Tracy Hickman, regarding the third (and final) book of the “Lost” Dragonlance trilogy:

Tracy Hickman
An Inconvenient Book

Well, we wish truth were happier…

Margaret and I have talked about this and are both deeply hurt and concerned. We don’t want our fans or book buyers to be mislead. To be clear, the book has not been turned in as yet by us.

Further, we were just informed that Wizards of the Coast is not allowing us to turn in the manuscript — in other words they don’t even want to read it. We have seen the book being pre-sold as coming out in July with our names on it, but the plot described is not ours. If we haven’t turned it in and they are refusing now to accept or even look at the manuscript from us … we are at a complete loss as to what to think.

It certainly both puzzling and upsetting.

Tracy Hickman for both myself and Margaret Weis

ElfQuest.

To say ElfQuest was a huge, huge, HUGE influence on me when I was growing up would be an understatement that would shatter worlds. ElfQuest was the first comic I read where it was REALLY all about the characters. Not about what bad villain the team of mutant born heroes would face. No, this was about characters trying to survive, trying to find their place in the world, and growing up through difficult times and difficult choices. It was about characters learning to overcome hatred. It was about characters… being alive. And at that age, when I was reading ElfQuest – I was a young teen who – much like the characters – was looking for my place in the world, growing up, enduring difficult choices, living with life and loss. The comic ElfQuest seemed to be written to me specifically! (Or so I would have thought back then!) There seemed to be a character for everyone – whether you were rough and tough (Cutter), a sky gazer (Skywise), a gentle spirit (Redlance), a fun, outlandish, and crazy person (Pike) – it was all there.

Unfortunately, the original ElfQuest was published by Wendy and Richard Pini (WaRP Publication) – so it was fairly hard to find.

Thankfully, Marvel Comics later reprinted the comics. DC Comics would much, much, much later actually pick up WaRP (but that didn’t last too long – but got them some additional exposure).

I have rattled on and on about ElfQuest to friends, family, strangers! But telling them about it – getting them interested – and when they asked, “Well, where can I find it?” The answer was always, “Well, I am not sure. Fairly hard to find in back issues… the Starblaze Editions are hard to find… And, um…”

Well now, Richard Pini is releasing the issues in digital format – for free.

What? Free? Yes. Free.

Is there a catch? A gimmick? Some trick?

One. And it’s cruel.

New issues are released every Friday on ElfQuest.com!

So the first original Quest is almost done so I wanted to do something special –

Issue #1 ? Issue #2 ? Issue #3 ? Issue #4 ? Issue #5 ? Issue #6 ? Issue #7 ? Issue #8 ? Issue #9 ? Issue #10 ? Issue #11 ? Issue #12 ? Issue #13 ? Issue #14 ? Issue #15 ? Issue #16 ? Issue #17 ? Issue #18

So please – give those a look. Take the journey. And by all means, if you enjoyed it or if you know or even think someone you know might enjoy it – please pass it on!

PS: And for those of you wondering about the new episode of Neverending Nights – a few things have come up to cause a small, unexpected delay. But it’s in the works. I promise.

New To NeN?

Somehow we have a few new folks to Neverending Nights – whether we bribed them, or they came here and we’re not letting them go, I won’t say – but for those new people – if you have been enjoying the videos – it doesn’t stop there!

Be sure to check out the Character Profiles. We have profiles for even characters that had less than a minute of screen time. Chances are if they even said one word somewhere in the episode – there’s a character profile for them. So check them out and learn about some of their back story!

And if you got to this site, and you have no idea what we’re talking about – start downloading the videos now. If you don’t want to commit to download, you could always check out our Neverending Nights Official Youtube Channel. (And by all means, subscribe to our videos while you’re there!)

If you’re curious who does what voice, you can check out the slightly outdated Voice Casting page.

And finally, if you have any questions, or want to talk about how much you love Tawmis, love his voice, or even love the character Peter the Ranger (with Charlie the Goblin always coming in a close second, I know, I know) – feel free to head into the forum and shower me – er, us – with all your loving comments.

ElfQuest – Free.

So the folks of WaRP Graphics are doing what most comic companies are doing – and releasing their comics into a digital format – for free. This is to lure in new readers!

And that’s why I am posting this!

I often praise ElfQuest for all of it’s greatness! Well they have released the first five issues into digital format! (Just so you know some text may be difficult to read if your browser resizes the image, or depending on your resolution) – but you can save the images and look at them that way too!

The original quest is easily one of the best, top of the line, comic arcs ever made. Smile

Most of all enjoy!

And shade and sweet water!

Neverending Nights – Episode 39: Confessions Of A Blade.

While we sort out the password issue with the site – the episode is temp. on another site for download. So go on and grab Neverending Nights – Episode 39: Confessions Of A Blade. (Right Click, Save As… 47.1 Megs in Size!). The episode is fairly short, but had to be reshot from its original because of a known issue with the CEP2.0 and the DM Control. Anyway, this episode we see more flashbacks, more of the mysterious figure, more Peter the Ranger (and this is what the fans were really demanding!) – but it’s a lot of Grayson the Fighter (I guess he needs some air time – we need to try and build him up so that people at least like him a fraction of how much they like Peter the Ranger’s character!) Oh yes, and Pawl the Dorf survives another episode in his current form! And you also see just how close Andrea the Assassin and her crew are to our would be heroes!

And for those who don’t want to download and treasure the episode forever on a golden DVD that you burn your NeN Episodes on – we also have it on Youtube. Don’t forget to subscribe to our NeN Youtube Channel!
